The Delta Dental annual maximum

The annual maximum is the most a PPO plan pays in a year. On Delta it is usually $1,000 to $2,000, it resets every January, and once you hit it you pay the rest. The HMO has none.

What is the Delta Dental annual maximum?
The annual maximum is the most a Delta Dental PPO plan will pay for your covered care in a calendar year. On individual plans it is about $1,000 on Basic and $2,000 on Premium. Employer group plans are selectable, commonly $1,000 to $3,000, and some add a carryover that can raise it over claim-light years. The maximum resets every January 1, and once you reach it you pay 100% of further covered care that year. The DeltaCare USA HMO has no annual maximum at all. CoverCapy sells neither insurance nor plans.

Annual maximum: the ceiling on what the plan pays per year. It is not a cap on what you can spend, only on what the plan reimburses. When you pass it, you pay full price for the rest of the year.
The reset

When does the maximum reset, and what happens when you hit it?

Delta individual plans run on a calendar year, so the maximum and deductible reset every January 1, no matter when you enrolled. Once you reach the maximum, the plan pays nothing more that year and you pay the full negotiated rate. A common move for big treatment plans: if you are near the cap, ask the office whether part of the work can be sequenced into January, when a fresh maximum begins.

Rollover

Does the Delta annual maximum roll over?

Not on individual Premium or Basic plans; unused dollars do not carry into the next year. Some employer group plans include a carryover feature (Delta calls one version To Go) that can add unused maximum over claim-light years, which over time can roughly double the effective ceiling. The DeltaCare USA HMO has no maximum, so there is nothing to roll over. Check your specific plan documents for whether a carryover applies.

Premium doubles the maximum and adds major work. See both tiers side by side.
