Inside Delta Dental · eligibility

Which Delta Dental am I?

"Delta Dental" is 39 separate companies, so your portal, your phone line, and your claims payer ID all depend on your state. Pick your state to get the right ones in one place.

Why is there no single Delta Dental login or payer ID?
Because Delta Dental is a federation, not one company. 39 independent Delta companies each run their own member portal, provider tools and claims payer ID across the 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico. There is no universal login. The carrier name and toll-free number on your ID card are the source of truth for which company, portal and payer ID apply to you.

Select your state. Payer IDs below are from Delta's published company contact sheet and should be verified against your current ID card or clearinghouse before filing a claim.

Tip: which company you have is usually set by your employer's state, not where you live. Your ID card is the final word.
Step by step

How to check your eligibility

If you are a member

  1. Identify your Delta company from your ID card or the national member locator.
  2. Sign in to that company's member portal, or deltadentalcoversme.com if you bought an individual plan.
  3. Open Benefits or Eligibility to see your annual maximum, deductible, remaining benefits and covered dependents. No internet? Call the automated line on your card.

If you are a dental office

  1. Read the patient's ID card to identify the Delta company and the right tool.
  2. Use Provider Tools for the DDINS and Delta Dental of California family, or the Dental Office Toolkit for DOT states.
  3. Look up the patient by name and date of birth, pull real-time eligibility, remaining maximum and benefits. If the portal is down, use the provider IVR on the card.

Common questions

Why does Delta Dental have so many portals and payer IDs?
Delta Dental is a federation of 39 independent companies covering all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico. Each company runs its own member portal, its own provider tools and its own claims payer ID, so there is no single national login or payer ID that works everywhere. The carrier name and toll-free number on your ID card identify which company, portal and payer ID apply to you.
What is the Delta Dental payer ID?
There is no single Delta Dental payer ID. Each member company has its own. Delta Dental Insurance Company uses 94276, which many clearinghouses accept as a universal fallback, but the company-specific ID (for example 77777 for California, DDPMI for Michigan, 05030 for Illinois) is preferred. The correct ID depends on which company holds the group, usually set by the employer's state. Always verify against the current ID card or clearinghouse.
How do I check my Delta Dental eligibility?
Identify your Delta company from your ID card or the national member locator, sign in to that company's member portal (or deltadentalcoversme.com for individual plans), and open Benefits or Eligibility to see your annual maximum, deductible, remaining benefits and covered dependents. If you cannot get online, call the automated line printed on your card.
What provider tool does a dental office use to check Delta eligibility?
It depends on the patient's Delta company. Offices use Provider Tools at deltadentalins.com for the Delta Dental Insurance Company and Delta Dental of California family, and the Dental Office Toolkit at dentalofficetoolkit.com for states such as Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Tennessee and North Carolina. Other state companies run their own portals. Read the patient ID card to pick the right one.
