Delta Dental for federal employees

Through FEDVIP, Delta offers two PPO plans, Standard and High. Both cover preventive care fully in network, and the High Plan carries an unlimited in-network annual maximum, a benefit almost no private plan matches.

Does Delta Dental cover federal employees?
Yes, through FEDVIP, the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program. Delta offers two PPO plans, Standard and High. Both cover preventive care at 100% in network. The High Plan adds richer major coverage, adult orthodontics, and an unlimited in-network annual maximum. Eligible: federal employees and annuitants including USPS, military retirees and gray-area reservists, and their families. You enroll through BENEFEDS during Open Season. Active-duty families use the separate TRICARE Dental Program, which is run by United Concordia, not Delta.

Who qualifies

Who is eligible for Delta FEDVIP?

Federal employees and annuitants, including the U.S. Postal Service. Retired uniformed service members and active duty within 60 days of retirement. Retired National Guard and Reservists, including gray-area retirees not yet receiving retired pay. And the eligible family members of all those groups.

Military note: FEDVIP is for military retirees and reservists, not active-duty families. Active-duty family dental is the TRICARE Dental Program, administered by United Concordia, a separate program from Delta.

If you are newly eligible or have a qualifying life event, you have a 60-day window; a retiring service member can enroll from 31 days before to 60 days after their retirement date.
